Delta Dental of New Mexico Supports Mission of Mercy for Fifth-Straight Time
In April 2016, almost all DDNM staff traveled to Santa Fe to volunteer at the New Mexico Dental Association Foundation’s Mission of Mercy dental clinic. Mission of Mercy is a free two-day dental clinic, staffed by volunteer dental professionals and general volunteers, intended for low– or no-income New Mexico residents. The clinic helps residents get much-needed dental care that they might otherwise not be able to afford. Mission of Mercy took place in Santa Fe, NM, from April 8-9. The clinic, held at the Santa Fe Convention Center, provided $1.167 million dollars’ worth of dental treatment to patients – for free. More than 1,200 patients received treatment, and more than a thousand volunteers helped out.
DDNM contributed a $35,000 donation to support Mission of Mercy this year, marking the fifth time the company served as a Platinum sponsor of the event.
Delta Dental of New Mexico Completes Third Year of Feeding Albuquerque Schoolchildren
In May 2016, Delta Dental of New Mexico closed out its third year in a row sponsoring the Blessings in a Backpack program and delivering much-needed food to schoolchildren at four Albuquerque elementary schools. Blessings in a Backpack is a nonprofit program that supplements federal free-and-reduced-price meal programs in order to feed students over the weekend, when free or reduced-priced meals are not available.
Once per week during the 2015-2016 school year, a group of Delta Dental employees stepped away from their work to gather, bag, and deliver snacks to an average of 250 Albuquerque schoolchildren across four elementary schools. This time-consuming commitment involved acquiring and moving large amounts of bulk snacks, sorting them into individual bags, and delivering them directly to schools so that each child in the program was guaranteed to have something to eat over the weekend.

Delta Dental of New Mexico Receives Philanthropy Award
In November 2015, Delta Dental of New Mexico was recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals New Mexico Chapter as the “Outstanding Business in Philanthropy” for 2015. DDNM executives and staff received the award at a National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 4, 2015, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Albuquerque.
DDNM was nominated by Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH). AHCH provides free, quality comprehensive care that works to improve overall quality of life while working with people to address the issues that created their homelessness. For 15 years, DDNM has been a strong supporter by providing annual sponsorship for AHCH’s Year-End First Day of Winter Campaign. Through those gifts, DDNM successfully sets the tone and leverages thousands of dollars by inspiring others to make significant contributions to AHCH’s fundraising campaign.
