Delta Dental of New Mexico Staff Will Bring Smiles and Volunteer Support
to Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 4, 2016—This week, Delta Dental of New Mexico (DDNM) employees will once again don friendly smiles and volunteer gear to help out at the New Mexico Dental Association Foundation’s Mission of Mercy dental clinic. Mission of Mercy is a free two-day dental clinic, staffed by volunteer dental professionals and general volunteers, intended for low– or no-income New Mexico residents. The clinic helps residents get much-needed dental care that they might otherwise not be able to afford. Mission of Mercy takes place in Santa Fe, NM, from April 8-9. The clinic, held at the Santa Fe Convention Center, will be open to the public and is first come, first served.

“Mission of Mercy is an event we’re proud to attend and financially support,” said Sara Limón, Chief Operating Officer at DDNM. “This event aligns directly with our mission to advance oral health care in New Mexico. We lend our time, energy and funds to help the event run smoothly, and, overall, to help more New Mexicans get the dental care they need.”

On Friday, April 8, the entire DDNM staff will head to Santa Fe to serve as volunteers for the day. Their duties will include escorting patients to appropriate treatment areas and assisting wherever else needed. Marshall Molar, DDNM’s mascot and the Ambassador of Smiles, will also be in attendance. Attendees are welcome to find Marshall for a picture—just look for the giant tooth with a belt and cowboy hat.

Jesús Galván, DDS, DDNM’s Chief Dental Officer, will serve on both days of the event as Dental Triage Lead. He will examine patients who haven’t been seen yet and determine what type of care they will need to receive. He will also coordinate the efforts of other triage screeners. Patients in the triage area are eventually routed and escorted to the appropriate treatment area.

This will be DDNM’s fifth-straight time being a Platinum-level sponsor of Mission of Mercy and supplying staff volunteers. Previous Mission of Mercy clinics were held in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Farmington and Rio Rancho.
