ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., May 7, 2015 — Delta Dental of New Mexico (DDNM) has strengthened its sales team by promoting two valued employees. Mike Wallace, formerly Director of Government and Corporate Relations, now serves as Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Affairs. He is responsible for big-picture sales activities, in addition to his expertise of government and corporate affairs. Nick Velasquez, formerly Sales Executive, has been promoted to Sales Director and now provides day-to-day oversight of the DDNM Sales and Account Management Department. The changes follow the recent resignation of DDNM’s Vice President of Sales.

“We’re excited to make these changes to our sales team,” said Walt Bolic, Chief Executive Officer of DDNM. “Mike and Nick will bring dynamic leadership to sales initiatives. We’re looking forward to forging even stronger relationships with the brokers we do business with and, ultimately, serving more New Mexicans with our dental benefits plans.”

Mike Wallace has been with DDNM since 2007. In his tenure at the company, Wallace has helped navigate the Affordable Care Act and other government relations, overseen communications, and worked in account management. He holds a bachelor’s in communication from the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California. He is currently attending the University of New Mexico (UNM), where he is working on a Master of Health Administration degree. He is the chairman of the health care committee for the Association of Commerce and Industry and is a graduate of the Leadership New Mexico Connect program. For fun, Wallace trains for and competes in state and national powerlifting competitions and is the current Natural Athlete Strength Association (NASA) state record holder for several lifts and divisions.

Nick Velasquez has been with DDNM since 2014. Previously, he spent more than four years working in sales and account management at Hewlett-Packard, and also spent two years doing an internship and full-time work as a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual. Velasquez graduated from the Anderson School of Management at UNM with a bachelor of business administration degree with a concentration in marketing. At UNM, he was Senior Vice President of the Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity and also a member of the American Marketing Association. He is currently a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters. He is a proud father and avid fly fisherman.
