How It Works
Getting Dental Care Services
When you enroll in Delta Dental Patient Direct, you will receive a personalized ID card in the mail. Your enrollment entitles you to Delta Dental Patient Direct discounts for one year, beginning the day you receive your personalized ID card.
Once enrolled, simply select a Delta Dental Patient Direct dentist, make an appointment, and present your Delta Dental Patient Direct ID card at the time of service.
Because Delta Dental Patient Direct is a discount plan, not dental insurance, you can immediately benefit from:
No claims to file
No benefit waiting periods
No pre-existing condition exclusions
No plan maximums
Patients retain direct communications with their dentists for appointment scheduling, services, and payments. At the same time, you benefit from discounted services on many procedures.
Almost every type of dental care service is discounted under Delta Dental Patient Direct, including routine cleanings and exams, fillings, and major services such as crowns, bridges, implants, and orthodontic care. In addition, discounts apply to tooth bleaching procedures.
Participating dentists agree to charge Delta Dental Patient Direct patients no more than the discounted fee amounts referenced in their provider contracts with Delta Dental. Refer to the Delta Dental Patient Direct Sample Schedule of Discounted Fees for a list of the discounted fees applicable to the most common dental procedures.
Typical savings on the most common procedures will be between 10 and 30 percent. On some procedures, the savings are even greater. On expensive services, such as a crown, you could save more on one procedure than you spend to be enrolled in Delta Dental Patient Direct all year.
Dental care services that are not discounted include dental care typically covered under medical care plans, highly specialized or experimental services, lab costs, prescription drugs, and implant procedures that do not meet Delta Dental’s standards for clinical outcomes. Ask your Delta Dental Patient Direct dentist for the discounted fee that applies to any procedure not shown on the sample schedule.
